The video at the top of this post features the Italian-made Isetta, which was the world’s first micro-car, unveiled in the early 1950s. It orginally used a single cylinder Iso motorcycle engne. BMW bought the rights to produce the car in 1955 and used a three-litre engine that got 94 miles per gallon. That last of the orginal designs were built in Spain in 1958
