Two fabulous new Desigual men’s shirts now available at Angel Vancouver

These two new Desigual shirts arrived in our spring shipment — one has the face of Albert Einstein, the other has the iconic image of Marilyn Monroe. The Einstein image, showing the famous physicist sticking his tongue out, was shot on his 72nd birthday on March 14, 1951, by photographer Arthur Sasse, who was trying to persuade Einsten to smile for the camera — playfully, he stuck out his tongue instead. It became one of the most popular photos ever taken of Einstein. In 2009, the original signed photograph was sold at auction for $74,324, a record for an Einstein photo.

Desigual for kids (spring 2013) has arrived at Angel Vancouver

Angel has added Desigual’s children line to the store. Below are photos of a few of the styles we have available, including two hoodie T-shirts (the blue one with 57 on it is called Nuba and the red one is called Comanche) and a pair of girl’s pants (called Kilimanjero). We also have a girl’s tunic dress (Clivia/Clovis), denim shorts (Limon), a denim skirt (called Ter) and another blue T-shirt (Potone).

This is just part of our spring order. The rest is expected to arrive in early February.

This historic photo of George Mallory’s first expedition to climb Mount Everest is contained on the Desigual T-shirt on the right. Vancouver author Wade Davis wrote an award-winning book about Mallory’s ill-fated Everest expeditions in the 1920s: Into the Silence. Mallory’s body was found in 1999.

Some recent hand-painted T-shirts I did for Christmas

Here are a few of the custom shirts that I hand-painted before Christmas. I stopped taking custom orders the week before Christmas while I worked painting the final orders and shipped them off. I also sold every hand-painted kids shirt that I had in my store.

Merry Christmas/Feliz Navidad everyone!

Angel Vancouver is closed Christmas Day but is open Boxing Day (Dec. 26) with a 15 per cent off sale on everything in the store. This is a one day only sale.

Last year, Barcelona-based fashion house Desigual and Montreal-based Cirque du Soleil collaborated on a new collection that includes dresses, skirts, men’s T-shirts, women’s tops, coats, knitted hats, scarves, jewelry and children’s wear. The plotline of Amaluna: A mysterious island is governed by Goddesses and guided by the cycles of the moon. In the wake of a storm, a group of young men lands on the island, triggering an epic, emotional story of love between the daughter of the island’s queen, Prospera, and a brave young suitor. But their love will be put to the test.

This is a stunning new show with a great rock music score performed by an all-women band.
