Today’s music video is Stressed Out by 21 pilots:
The duo, which will play a concert in Vancouver on April 10, takes it name from a 1947 Arthur Miller play called All My Sons; it is based on a true story about the owner of a factory that knowingly shipped faulty engines for WWII planes that resulted in the deaths of 21 pilots during the war. Here’s another song by the duo, Car Radio:
Here’s a bit more of an upbeat Elvis song from Blue Hawaii, played on a ukulele:
Earlier this week, I went to see the new film, Born to be Blue, with Ethan Hawke playing former jazz great Chet Baker. The film was written & directed by Canadian Robert Budreau, 42, who attended the Vancouver Film School, located a block from my store. Here is a live version, recorded in Tokyo, of Baker’s signature tune, My Funny Valentine:
The recording was made in 1987. Baker died a year later after accidentally falling out the window of his Amsterdam hotel. Here is Baker’s last interview.
