Platform shoes seem to be making a comeback in Barcelona, looking at the latest photos posted on the WWD website.
They were also seen recently on the streets of Tokyo during fashion week there.
Or maybe platforms never really died off — somewhere in the world, another group is trying to revive the style.
After all, it was the ancient Greeks who first wore platform shoes on the stage to raise the importance of the star characters. But for some, they are the ultimate symbol of the disco era of the 1970s.
Here is Deee-Lite singing Groove is in the Heart:

Last year, John Fluevog shoes, which is located a block down the street, re-issued these Munster platforms (seen above worn by Lady Miss Kier of the band Deee-Lite) to celebrate Fluevog’s 40th anniversary.
Did you know Fluevog started his first store at No. 2 Powell in Vancouver, Canada, which is now the location of my store, Angel Vancouver?
Angel now carries the Desigual brand of clothing from Barcelona, which looks good with platforms. We also specialize in custom hand-painted clothing. Call (604) 681-0947 or email me at jackie@angelpaint.com
