Actor, writer and political activist Jane Fonda dropped by Angel on Friday night and bought a Desigual jacket designed by Christian Lacroix.
Currently starring in the Netflix comedy series Grace and Frankie (with Lily Tomlin & Sam Waterston), Fonda was in Vancouver for Greenpeace’s Toast the Coast event on Saturday at Jericho Beach. She said she was here to support First Nations people and others wanting to raise awareness of the environmental issues surrounding oil drilling in Canada’s Arctic and expanding the pipelines to the West Coast of Canada and to the U.S. You can read her interview Friday with CBC here.
The former fitness guru, now 77, looked fabulous. Fonda was wearing a dark brown fringed leather buckskin jacket Friday night. And her hair, as always, was perfect.

Today’s music video is That Summer Feeling by Jonathan Richman, whom I saw perform in Vancouver on Friday night at the Biltmore, where he got us to sing the chorus:
Jeremiah “Jerry” Harrison was an original member of Jonathan Richman’s band, The Modern Lovers, while Harrison was an architecture student at Harvard. Harrison later joined The Talking Heads.
Jonathan did this song Friday night, along with some dancing:The Modern Lovers were a proto punk band that had a minimalistic sound inspired by The Velvet Underground, such as this song, Roadrunner, from 1972:Here’s another song from 1972 written by Jonathan, Pablo Picasso, with Jonathan on lead guitar/vocals, Jerry Harrison on bass and former Velvet Underground member John Cale on piano:David Bowie did a much punchier version of the song in 2003, with Lou Reed on guitar, stage left:And one last song from Jonathan, When I’m Walking, where he sings, “Just wanna wander and walk around” — it doesn’t get simpler than that:
Desigual, fun wearable art, like your hand painted pieces! Fun celebrity encounter. Jane Fonda continues to be a dynamic woman.
