The new Desigual Fall-Winter 2023 collection for women has arrived at Angel, just as the end-of-summer weather begins to cool.

Angel has new Desigual coats, sweaters, trousers, dresses, blouses and denim jackets, plus some cool combat boots and bags.

Here is a Desigual interview of the famed Paris fashion designer from five years ago, explaining his creative process:

British-born French actress-singer Jane Birkin died last month. She first appeared in the 1966 Michelangelo Antonioni film Blow-Up, which featured a performance of the Yardbirds with Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. Two years later, Birkin met French actor Serge Gainsbourg while co-starring with him in the film Slogan. Here’s a scene from the movie:

Birkin and Gainsbourg recorded this song together in 1969, Je t’aime… moi non plus. It was banned in many countries because it was considered too sexual at the time.

Birkin was a fashionista who created a trend – for many years in the 1960s, she always carried a hand-woven straw basket she bought in a small town in Portugal. Women picked up on it and started carrying straw bags. In 1983, on a flight from Paris to London, she sat next to Hermès chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas. Birkin had placed her straw basket in the overhead compartment but the contents fell to the floor. Birkin told Dumas that it was difficult to find a leather weekend bag she liked. So he created a black supple leather bag for her and called it the Birkin bag, which has become a collectors item, now selling for up to $500,000. In 2015, Birkin asked Hermès to remove her name from the crocodile skin version of the bag because she was upset about the cruel methods of acquiring croc skins to make that variant of the Birkin bag.
