One of the world’s best female guitarists, Orianthi Panagaris, recently dropped into Angel with Denise Salazar, the manager of Ori’s boyfriend and band mate Richie Sambora. Ori bought a dress for her sister and a Desigual tank top for herself — she posted this selfie (above) online of her wearing it the next day.
Ori & Richie have been recording a block from my store at the Bryan Adams Warehouse Studio, produced by former Vancouver rocker Bob Rock (locals will recall his early days playing with Paul Hyde in Vancouver band The Payola$). Bob, who now lives in Hawaii, also recently produced the new recording by The Cult at Bryan Adams’ studio in Gastown.
Ori & Richie met in 2013 at a New Year’s party hosted by Alice Cooper — Ori was in Cooper’s band at the time. They’ll be playing Brazil this summer and will be touring with Bad Company in October. Sambora says he has no plans to rejoin Bon Jovi.
Here’s a recent live version of Ori and Richie playing a song that he co-wrote with Bon Jovi’s frontman, Wanted Dead or Alive:
Here’s another live song, Gimme Shelter, with lead vocals by Brooklyn Allman, daughter of Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers:
And here’s Ori solo, playing a 2011 live version of Jimi Hendrix‘s Voodoo Child:
Watch Ori shred with one of her guitar heroes, Steve Vai, who co-wrote this with Ori:

Angel is located at No. 2 Powell Street in the Gastown district of Vancouver, Canada. We are on the corner of Powell & Carrall Street in Maple Tree Square, where Vancouver began. The photo (left) shows what the location of my store looked like in 1886 (click on photo to enlarge).
And here’s a typically Vancouver moment from this week — a father videotaping his kids at the beach at Spanish Banks caught killer whales feeding on fish just offshore:
