For Black History month, here is Vancouver singer-songwriter Tonye Aganabe:

CBC Music named Aganaba’s “Sugar,” from her 2019 album Something Comfortable, one of the most underrated songs of the year. CBC said the non-binary soul singer — who uses they and their as personal pronouns — as “one of this country’s most often overlooked R&B/soul talents.” Here she is with The Foundation in 2012 performing live at John Fluevog Shoes in Gastown:
